David Beckham, international soccer star, celebrity and business mogul, died Thursday evening after suffering from a heart attack in his London home. He was 40.

Beckham excited soccer fans around the globe during his decorated career as a professional player. An outstanding player for each of the teams he represented, Beckham won league titles in four different countries while playing for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy, and Paris Saint-Germain. The star also appeared in three World Cups tournaments.

Born in Leytonstone, London, England, on May 2, 1975, David Robert Joseph Beckham grew up playing the sport he would eventually become famous for. His Father, David Robert “Ted” Beckham, and his mother, Sandra West Beckham, raised him and his two sisters together under a roof that was dedicated and loyal to the Manchester United Futbol Club.

Beckham was well-known and loved for many reasons other than his exceptional soccer skills. He was known for his huge heart and a compassionate personality by many. Beckham was extremely charitable. Beckham will be remembered for his charitable giving, in fact, after signing with Paris Saint-Germain in 2013, Beckham excitedly donated his pay to a Paris children’s charity.

Today I feel so sad, but I’m also grateful to have known such a kind and generous soul. R.I.P.,” Beckham’s longtime friend Stacy Williams tweeted the morning his death was announced  Friday morning.

David Beckham is survived by his wife, Victoria; his three sons, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz; and his daughter, Harper.

Burial arrangements are being privately handled by the family, and they will be held in Beckham’s hometown of London, England.

Willard Christopher Smith, Jr. aka, Will Smith, talented actor, rapper and producer, died of a heart attack on Thursday in his Los Angeles home. He was 46.

Jada Pinkett Smith, his wife, confirmed his death.

Smith began his career as a rapper under the name of The Fresh Prince, and acclaimed more success when NBC decided to star Smith in his own show, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”

When the series ended, Smith chose to move from television to film, starring in countless box-office hits such as Men in Black,” “Ali and The Pursuit of Happyness.”

Smith is survived by his wife, Jada, and his three kids, Trey, Jaden and Willow.

President Barack Obama released a statement saying, “This is a tragic loss for our nation. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.”

Smith was nominated for four Golden Globes, two Academy Awards for best actor, two best actor Oscars, while also accumulating four Grammys. Smith redefined what it means to be a multi-talented artist and paved the path for many others to follow in his footsteps.

Comedian Hannibal Buress is again under fire after he previously said, “I don’t want to die before Will Smith ’cause then I miss that awesome ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ marathon.” Buress’ representative could not be reached for comment.

Above all, Smith will be remembered most for his work in the community. In 2007 Smith donated $1.3 million to charities. And in 2008 Smith and his wife founded the New Leadership Academy, a private elementary school in Calabasas, California. In 2010 Smith donated another $1.2 million to the school.

“I don’t know what my calling is, but I want to be here for a bigger reason. I strive to be like the greatest people who have ever lived.” Will Smith

Questionable Lead

The Score of Murfreesboro celebrates its one-year anniversary

“I got to meet Stan Lee,” is perhaps the prime example of one phrase every nerd wishes they could claim to be true. For Zach Edwards, owner of The Score of Murfreesboro, it is.

I don’t think this is a terrible lead, but I think they should consider revising this. I was always taught “not to bury the lead.” The story is about The Score’s one-year anniversary, not about meeting Stan Lee. I know the writer is just trying to be interesting and witty with this lead, but it doesn’t follow traditional inverted pyramid. If we’re talking about importance, meeting Stan Lee would be later in the article. However, the lead is OK if the article was meant to be written as a feature story. Then, all bets are off. Feature stories don’t necessarily have to follow traditional inverted pyramid, thus the lead can be a little later in the article. But if this story is a feature story, not a news story, then I would consider changing the title and making it a bit longer. Feature writing is generally a long-form writing style that candid stories like the Stan Lee story.

Real Fantasy Football Advice for Fake Football Owners

I commute to MTSU, with a 40 minute drive one way every week day. So I find myself with about an hour and a half block of driving. After a while you get tired of listening to the radio or things like Pandora. But I’ve downloaded the TuneIn Radio App, and I listen to a daily fantasy football podcast on my way home. I’m a big fantasy football fan, so who better to prepare me for this season than fantasy football God, Matthew Berry? It kills time that I would be sitting in silence, and I learn a little bit that I can use to crush my friends and family in our annual leagues.
